Cymax Group Technologies Ltd. is a privately held eCommerce company headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The Cymax Group of brands includes two retail websites, Cymax Business and Home Square, which sell furniture and decor; plus Freight Club and Channel Gate, which are eCommerce logistics and technology enablement platforms.

Overview

  • As CEO, I led the company through a period of rapid expansion, resulting in about 250%+ increase in revenue, through digital, cultural, and organizational transformation. 

  • Provided leadership to establish Cymax as an anchor in the eCommerce ecosystem.  

  • Introduced innovative AI and machine-learning technology to deliver success in the furniture and D2C marketplace economy.  

  • Developed and implemented long-term strategy to drive sustainable growth and market differentiation. 

  • Grew the eCommerce business unit to over $275M USD with more than 400+ furniture vendors and 400,000 products serving 12+ marketplaces in US and Canada and the Freight Club business unit to over $70M USD in revenues respectively, with more than 1000 FC customers. 

  • Successfully introduced various financing instruments to support the business’s digital transformation, which included upgrading tech, financial, ecommerce and logistics systems. 

  • Refocused company on servicing technical debt through digital transformation of key systems and platforms, and implementation of data-driven decision-making processes.    

  • Designed new organizational structure including hiring new senior leadership team (COO, CFO, CIO, SVP), and recruiting Board Members (Ex-Wayfair and Ex-Amazon executives, IPO specialist and new Board Chair). 

  • Created and nurtured a positive company culture that fostered DEI, collaboration, and innovation, leading to a 50% increase in employee retention and an eNPS improvement of more than 20 points. 

  • Introduced offshore teams in India, Philippines, and the Ukraine and worked with outsourced providers in the same locations, managing over 200 people in either offshore our outsourced capacity.
